European ITER Site Studies (EISS)
To evaluate European proposals for the ITER site, the European ITER Site Study Group
(EISS Group) was established by the EFDA Steering Committee. The EISS Group was formed as an EFDA Technical
Working Group.
The task of the EISS Group was to contribute to ITER Site issues, together with the ITER International Team and
with the involvement of the fusion Associations and European Industry. In particular, the tasks of the group
included:
-
the establishment of the compliance of the European site(s) with the ITER technical requirements
-
the identification of key elements for the site specific licensing procedure
-
examine site specific aspects of the ITER construction and operation costs
-
evaluate social and infrastructure impacts of the projects
-
assist the European ITER negotiators in providing further information on the above items as required
