EFDA-JET
The EFDA Close Support Unit in Culham is the location of the EFDA Associate Leader for
JET and of several departments. The Office of the EFDA Association Leader for JET is in charge of
scientific communication (through websites, conferences, seminars, etc.) and publications, public
information, and remote participation.
The implementation and monitoring of the experimental Campaigns are the responsibility of the
Programme Department. Following the EFDA workprogramme, the experimental campaigns are defined and planned,
and the required resources identified. The Programme Department is in charge of data analysis and ensures data
consistency, coordinates computer code development, and coordinates the different task forces and scientific
reporting. The Head of the Programme Department is also responsible for International Collaborations.
The Operation Department is in charge of monitoring and guiding the operation of the
JET facilities. Together with the JET operator, they plan the operation of the JET facilities following the
EFDA workprogramme proposals, and identify the required resources. They are also in charge of the technical
monitoring of the JET Operation Contract (JOC). Together with CSU Garching, they follow up Fusion Technology actions.
Some parts of the EFDA Workprogramme relate to the enhancement of the JET facilities, for example the JET-Enhanced
Performance Project. The Enhancement Department is in charge of the organisation, coordination, planning and
monitoring of enhancements. The department also elaborates and defines the enhancements from the Workprogramme
proposals.
Finally, the Administration Department is in charge of the finances and budget, the contracts and contractual
supervision of the Jet Operation Contract, the management of personal and of the internal procedures and databases.
